KAY JAY PRINT
Keith Woodcock’s family originated from Lenham, having previously lived in the shop premises adjacent to The Lime Tree and his father opened the Lenham Ambulance Station. Keith Woodcock and John Hubbard bought the Company from P & H Foster in 1993 and ran it with the help of their families up until John, who unfortunately had to leave because he developed cancer. In 1997 Keith married June, together they now have 6 children and 4 grandchildren. June became a Partner in the Company and eventually in October 2000 it was decided that expansion was needed so larger premises were sought and found in Boundary Road Hythe, closer to Keith’s new home, and of course the Company’s name had to changed due to the different location. Lenham Ironmongers kindly agreed to act as a depot for people in Lenham to drop into with artwork and pick up their finished jobs, so maintaining a local printing service. The business has many old and loyal customers in Lenham and the surrounding area together with new ones in Hythe, Folkestone and area but also services many other areas of the country, using a Courier Service. Keith has spent his whole working life in Print, starting as an apprentice at Headley Brothers in Ashford at the tender age of 15. He then went on to work for Gross Monty, progressing up to the position of Works Manager. After this he moved to work for Broad Oak Colour in Canterbury, also as Works Manager and subsequently as Sales Executive. After this he went to work for Adams Printers in Dover as Sales Executive. At this time he felt sufficiently professional to branch out into looking to start and run his own business so bought the Company at Lenham. Keith is very versatile in his artwork designing, printing
and finishing of all types. He prints local monthly magazines including
Lenham Focus and The Outlook amongst others. He also prints raffle tickets,
business cards, letter headings, compliments slips, invoices, N.C.R. Multi-Part
Sets or Pads, booklets, brochures, envelopes, price lists, posters. He
can also produce short run digital four-colour work. Photo-copying in
colour or black and white, laminating, cutting and creasing, numbering
and perforating, perfect binding and other finishing techniques and also
has a good selection of wedding stationery, so is known as a skilled all-round
printer but not too round in figure, yet, despite taking time out occasionally
for the odd well earned Cruise to the Caribbean.
