Julie McDonald is no stranger to figures. In her former career she was a qualified bookkeeper but has now turned her talents to other kinds of figures.

Julie and her daughter, Melissa Fairbrass, embarked on their business venture having attended the de Montfort University to become trained bra fitters. They then did their market research and selected their premises in Lenham.

The decision to set up here is proving to be a sensible one. They not only have local customers but Femme Fatale’s popularity is spreading as far afield as Maidstone and Canterbury. Their customers tell them they welcome the peace, calm and friendly atmosphere of the boutique, where they are not rushed to make a purchase and are made to feel ‘special’.

Their boutique perfectly displays the pretty and practical lingerie, with its cool whitewashed walls, mellow beams and gossamer pink drapes, creating an atmosphere of calm. This is a perfect foil for Julie and Melissa’s welcoming and friendly personalities – ladies who know what ladies want!

Julie stressed that they are not attempting to compete with chain-store products but nevertheless the prices range from the modest, for everyday living, to the more expensive designs, for those special occasions.

There is a very good range of gym wear, including track pants and tops, and swimwear which deserves to be displayed on a sun-soaked beach!

The problem of hiding bra straps under a strapless or thin strap dress can be solved quite easily at Femme Fatale. Have a look at the diamante bra straps, which can be hooked into a normal bra. Very pretty!

It is a well known fact that many women do not really know what size they are, other than having run a tape measure around themselves at some time in the past. As trained bra fitters Julie and Melissa can measure you correctly, in the privacy of their fitting room and advise you on not only the right size but what kind of undergarments suit your particular shape.

When you have been properly measured, a note is made of your vital statistics and preferences on a card. This is very practical, not only for you, but to pass on discreetly to a loved one who may ask you what you would like as a present! Have you ever seen the queues of women exchanging lingerie after Christmas?
