LENHAM
BMX AND SKATEBOARD PROJECT COMMITTEE
Meeting held 15/07/03
The thorny question of raising funds for the project
was discussed. To get the youths involved with the project they could
gain public support by promoting it at the local monthly Market. They
could highlight the scheme with drawings and perhaps getting donations
at the same time. We must also try to identify other forms of grant funding
in the public domain.
The youths collected £60 at the Lenham
Wanderers Football Club’s Boot Fare and a £200 donation from
the Lenham Neighbourhood Watch together with £250 for doing five
litter picks at Swadelands School (which has yet to be completed), £500
promised from a resident at Atwater Court (as long as the youths help
the volunteer group).
Tom Sams told the Meeting that Tonbridge and
Malling Borough Council are looking at a Skate Light project. Research
shows that it is the most robust and most liked by the youths scheme.
However, it is quite expensive but has low maintenance. Perhaps the youths
involved with the project could get onto the Website and further investigate
the possibilities.
