HAVE A GREAT DAY OUT AT
HADLOW’S SUMMER EXHIBITION & FESTIVAL 2009

Hadlow CollegeA great day out that will appeal to all who love gardens and the countryside is in store for visitors to the inaugural Hadlow College Summer Exhibition & Festival. Held from Monday 8 June to Sunday 14 June, the Exhibition will showcase talent, creativity and artistic ability in a fantastic display of garden design and landscape management.

Portraying the work of Final Year Degree students, the spectacular exhibits draw inspiration from internationally known garden designers. Past students from Hadlow have achieved many prestigious awards - medals at RHS Flower Shows (including Chelsea and Hampton Court Palace) and other leading agricultural shows both home and abroad.

But isn’t landscape management the same sort of thing? Far from it – managing our landscape has huge importance and influence on all our futures. Graduates from the Faculty of Landscape Management are tasked with the responsibility of mitigating in the various conflicting demands and objectives of the many bodies, organisations, rural industries and members of the public that have an interest in our beloved and fragile rural landscape.

Hadlow is one of the UK’s leading colleges for further and higher education in the land-based sector – agriculture, commercial horticulture, garden design and landscape management among its many faculties – and boasts the magnificent Broadview Gardens, nine acres of formal, informal and themed gardens, which are open to the public 360 days of the year.

A visit to the Summer Exhibition & Festival affords opportunity to wander round Broadview afterwards and the good news is that it is all free of charge!

In addition to all this, a series of fascinating and thought-provoking talks, plus a floral art demonstration by one of the UK’s top masters, will be held each evening from Monday to Friday during the event. Discover what sustainability really means! How the lions of Zambia are being jeopardised! Learn about the history of the Sun King’s gardens at Vaux le Vicomte and Versailles! Find the answers to your horticultural problems with Gardeners’ Question Time!

Full details of the Exhibition and how to apply for tickets to the talks and floral art demonstration are available in the Summer Exhibition & Festival programme.

To obtain your FREE copy, send an SAE (A5 size with 39p postage) to: Pat Crawford, Hadlow College, Tonbridge, Kent TN11 0AL or collect from the college’s Broadview Garden Centre.
